What does Abutment means? An abutment is an anchor
tooth for a bridge. Typically, a bridge has at least one abutment on each end of
the bridge. The crown which replaces the missing tooth is called a 'pontic'. Also, many
insurance companies and dentists refer to an abutment tooth as a retainer tooth instead. |
